Job Brief:
Ferndale Transport is looking for mechanic helpers to join our team and help mechanics with vehicle maintenance tasks, such as an oil change, tire rotation or equipment repair.
Job Duties:
- Move tools, equipment, and other materials to and from storage and work areas
- Perform mechanical repairs or work under supervision of a mechanic to repair or replace tires, batteries, and other accessories
- Assist mechanics with lifting and maneuvering heavy parts and components
- Disassemble simple components and clean parts for reassembly
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to established safety procedures
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing etc.
- Inspect, repair, change and rotate tires
- Check fluid levels and replace oil, water, battery, and other fluids as needed
- Request parts and tools for mechanics as needed
- Clean shop floors, stalls, driveways, tools, and equipment
- High school diploma may be required, not mandatory
- On-the-job training will be provided
Skills:
- Ability to diagnose minor mechanical problems and perform repairs under supervision
- Ability to operate tools and equipment involved in vehicle repair
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts
- Able to work in a team and produce quality output under tight deadlines
